JOAN PRICE MEMORIAL CONCERT
These concerts were initially set up as a fitting memorial to Joan Price who died on the 30th January 2017 as result of a tragic Road Traffic Accident while returning from a Band rehearsal. Gillian Kay, another of our members, was a passenger in Joan's vehicle and sustained  serious injuries, for which she still receives treatment, as well as dealing with her own personal tragedy in losing her husband, David Kay, only a year later.
The concerts were built on the concept of all the bands, that Joan had played in, should come together and put on a concert, each playing a short programme, in turn, ending up with a massed band finale playing some of the more well known 'Trombone' orientated pieces that Joan would have played throughout her distinguished career. The Bands involved are The Kilmarnock Concert Brass,  Joan's first band, as it was created from within the Kilmarnock Academy School, then she helped out Irvine and Dreghorn Band before being coaxed along to Dunaskin Doon Band after a long break from playing.
All proceeds from these Concerts are donated to charities in Ayrshire with each Band taking it in turn to determine which charity benefits each year. A list of the donations given and the Charities that benefited are shown following.
Joan's husband, Colin, gave his and the family's blessing with regard to the bands  putting on these concerts each year and donating the proceeds in this way. We all thank Colin and the Price Family for their continued and gracious support in all our endeavours.
